In the central part are two cornucopias crossed at the top. Between them is an inscription in Spanish: '5 CENT' - five centavos. Along the arc of the lower edge is an inscription in Spanish: 'BOGOTA' - the Bogota mint. The coin's edge features decorative elements in the form of dentils.

In the central part is a depiction of the goddess Liberty facing left, wearing a headband with the Spanish inscription for 'Liberty' - 'LIBERTAD'. Below her is the year of minting - 1875. To the left, top, and right is an inscription in Spanish: 'ESTADOS UNIDOS DE COLOMBIA', which translates to 'United States of Colombia'. In the lower part, along the arc of the coin's edge, are nine five-pointed stars. The coin's edge features decorative elements in the form of dentils.
