The central part features the coat of arms of Belize. It consists of: a heraldic shield divided into three parts, the left part shows a crossed axe and paddle, the right part shows an axe and a saw, the lower part shows a sailing ship. Above the shield on a torse stands a tree; supporters flank the shield: on the left holding an axe over the shoulder, on the right holding a paddle. At the base of the arms is the motto in Latin 'SUB UMBRA FLOREO' (Under the shade I flourish). The border of the arms is formed by twenty-five pairs of leaves, closed in a circle. Above the arms is the country name in English 'BELIZE', below it the year of minting '1984'. To the right of the arms is the Franklin Mint mintmark 'f'. On both sides of the arms is a dot. The coin's edge is beaded.
