    In the central part, there is a three-line inscription "1/4 RUPIE 1904", which translates from German as "1/4 rupee 1904". The numbers "1904" indicate the year of issue. Below is the letter "A" - the mint mark. To the left and right are stylized images of palm branches, tied together at the bottom by a wide ribbon. Along the upper edge, from left to right, is an inscription in German "DEUTSCH OSTAFRIKA", translated as "German East Africa". Around the edge of the coin are relief images in the form of dots.

    In the central part, the left-facing profile of German Emperor Wilhelm II wearing a helmet topped with an eagle facing left, and in the military uniform of the time, with epaulettes. Along the rim, to the left and right, is a Latin inscription "GUILELMUS II IMPERATOR", which translates to "Wilhelm II Emperor". Around the edge of the coin are decorative raised dots.
