Reverse
The central part features a lion with a sword in its paw against a sun background - the coat of arms of Iran. Below, the text in Persian is struck: "دوهزار دینار" - "TWO THOUSAND DINARS". Above is a crown. Along the arc of the left edge of the coin is an olive branch, on the right is an oak branch. Decorative raised denticles are placed along the edges of the rim.
Obverse
The central part has an inscription in 3 lines in Persian: "شاه قاجار ناصر الدين السلطان", which translates as: "NASER AD-DIN SHAH QAJAR SULTAN". To the left and right along the rim are depicted 2 olive branches, which cross at the bottom and are tied with a bow.
