    The central part features a portrait of the first King of Romania, Carol I of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen. The portrait includes a facsimile of the prince's signature. Along the left arc of the coin is the person's name in Romanian 'CAROL I', with the inscription '175 ANI DE LA NASTERE' (175 years since birth) to the left.
  • Obverse
    The top depicts the Archdiocesan Cathedral in Curtea de Argeș (left) and Peleș Castle. The bottom shows the bridge in the city of Cernavodă and a scene from the War of Independence 'Romanian troops capturing the redoubts at Grivița'. Above the bridge is the state coat of arms, to its right the country name 'ROMANIA' in Romanian, to its left the year of issue '2014'. On the bottom image is the denomination inscription '10 LEI'.
