In the central part is a lion with a sword in its paw against a sun - the coat of arms of Iran. Below is the text 1/2 rial in Persian: "ریال‎ ۱\۲". Above is a crown. Along the left arc of the coin's edge is an olive branch, on the right is an oak branch. The edges of the rim are decorated with raised decorative teeth.
Obverse
In the central part, in 2 lines, 1/2 rial in Persian: "ریال‎ ۱\۲". Above it is an inscription in Persian: "رضا شاه پهلوی شاهنشاه ایران", which translates as: "REZA SHAH PAHLAVI SHAH OF IRAN". At the top is a crown, on the left along the rim is an olive branch, on the right is an oak branch. At the bottom is the mint year: "۱۳۱۵" - the year 1315 according to the Iranian calendar or 1936 according to the Gregorian calendar. The edges of the rim are decorated with raised decorative teeth.
