    In the central part is a left-facing portrait of Prince Henry the Navigator in armor, holding a spear point-up in his right hand. To his left is the inscription "10 KWANZA", above which is a star, and to his right is a caravel. Above the plume are the explorer's life years "1394 - 1460". Along the arc of the coin's edge on the left and top are the title, name, and epithet of the Infante: "PRINCE HENRY THE NAVIGATOR".

    In the central part is the coat of arms of Angola: it consists of a crossed machete and hoe, above them a five-pointed star in rays, with branches of corn, coffee, and cotton on the left, and half a cogwheel on the right; below the coat of arms is an open book, at the base the motto with the name of the state in Portuguese "República de Angola". Along the circumference near the rim are inscriptions in Portuguese: at the top - "RESPUBLICA DE ANGOLA", at the bottom the year of minting "1999".
