Kiaf SEOUL Will Return for 25th Edition With 175 Exhibitors

Kiaf SEOUL, the largest and oldest international art fair in Korea, will return for its twenty-fifth iteration at COEX, a major convention complex in Gangnam, fromSeptember 2–6this year. The forthcoming edition will include 175 galleries from eighteen countries and territories, and the fair will also feature internal sections that serve to differentiate the offerings. For the fifth year, Kiaf SEOUL ispartneringwith Frieze Seoul—which will also take place in COEX—continuing a partnership that began in 2022.
This year’s Kiaf PLUS, a platform for emerging artists and galleries, will include eight galleries from Korea and eleven international participants from Bangkok, Tokyo, Moscow, and other cities. The fourth edition of Kiaf HIGHLIGHTS will showcase ten artists that will be selected by an international jury of art professionals, and this section will exhibit presentations based on these artists’ practices. This year’s Kiaf HIGHLIGHTS will engage with work that thematically explores materiality, ecology, and Eastern philosophy.
“Kiaf will continue to strengthen its position as an international platform where leading galleries from Korea and around the world gather to present diverse perspectives and possibilities in contemporary art,” Sunghoon Lee, the Kiaf operating committee chairman and president of the Galleries Association of Korea, said.
The fair’s organizer is the Galleries Association of Korea, and KB Financial Group functions as a lead partner in the proceedings. This year’s Kiaf SEOUL will be helmed by Kuho Jung, who was appointed as the fair’s Creative Director in April. Jung, who has a background in fashion design, stage design and exhibition space design, was Kiaf’s first outside hire for creative director. At Kiaf SEOUL, he will be responsible for reviving the fair’s branding and exhibition strategy, as well as curation.
