There’s been a changing of the guard atChristie’sin London:François-Henri Pinault, son of the French luxury group billionaire François Pinault andChairman of the Board of Kering, was appointed Chairman and Non-Executive Director of the auction house’s U.K. outpost, as per aMay 22 announcementfrom the firm. Bryan Lourd, the CEO and co-chairman of Creative Artists Agency (CAA), is also joining the board of Christie’s London as Non-Executive Director.
In addition to his role at Kering, François-Henri Pinault is also the president ofGroupe Artémis, the parent company of Christie’s. “It is a privilege to assume the role as Chairman of the Board of Christie’s,” he said in a statement. “Our family’s long-standing association with this remarkable business has been a source of immense pride, and we look to the future with great enthusiasm. We remain deeply committed to preserving and continually strengthening the company’s core expertise: connecting exceptional art and objects with a global audience through passionate scholarship, connoisseurship, and expertise, while continuing to innovate and expand.”
Pinault will be taking over the board chairman role from Guillaume Cerutti, who was the CEO of Christie’s from 2017 to 2025. In February of 2025, Cerutti became the president of the Pinault Collection – an assembly of over ten thousand artworks that was established by the elder Pinault in 1999 – and only lasted in the role for thirteen months before departing without comment. François Pinault is now listed as the president of the collection, ARTnews noted.
