Paris Internationale Milano Names Participating Galleries for Inaugural Edition

The organizers of theParis Internationale, a free gallery-led nonprofit art fairestablished in 2015, have announced the thirty-four galleries and nonprofits set to participate in its inaugural Milan event, to take place April 18–21, with a VIP preview day on April 17. The debut ofParis InternationaleMilano signals an increasing interest in the Italian city as an international arts hub.

Among those participating are Paris Internationale stalwarts, as well as those exhibiting with the fair for the first time. In keeping with the event’s intimate ethos, each will show only one or two artists, to deepen the viewing experience. Too, the number of participating galleries is intentionally limited. A slate of talks and performances is planned for the duration of the fair, which will take place in the Palazzo Galbani.Designed by Eugenio and Ermengildo Soncini, key figures in Milan’s postwar archictecture scene, the building was constructed between 1956 and 1959.

Paris Internationale Milano’s inaugural run coincides with the tenth edition of Milan Art Week, promoted by the City of Milan in conjunction with miart, the international modern and contemporary art fair organized by Fiera Milano, and running April 13–19.

“This year, too, Milan confirms its position as an international hub for contemporary art, offering residents and visitors a rich and diverse program that spans the entire urban fabric,” said Tommaso Sacchi, the city’s councilor for culture, in a statement. Sacchi noted that Milan Art Week “embraces the arrival of Paris Internationale, the independent platform founded in Paris in 2015, which has chosen Milan for its first edition outside of France, confirming our city’s centrality on the European and international art scene.”
