Art Basel Announces Exhibitors for 2026 Swiss Fair

The organizers ofArt Baseltoday named the 290 galleries slated to participate in the Swiss fair’s flagship edition, to take place June 18–21 with preview days June 16 and 17. The exhibitors represent forty-three countries; twenty-one galleries will make their inaugural appearances at the event. The fair will unveil two major commissions: a work by Nairy Baghramian, appearing on the Messeplatz, and a large-scale project by Ibrahim Mahama, to be installed on the Münsterplatz.

The fair’s main Galleries section will feature 232 exhibitors. Four—Berry Campbell and Ortuzar, both from New York; the Antwerp- and Rome-based Tim Van Laere Gallery; and London’s Phillida Reid—are new to the fair, while eight have moved from the Feature, Premiere, and Statements sections. These include Silverlens, of Manila and New York; LQ Queisser, of Tibilisi and Cologne; and Kalfayan Galleries, of Athens and Thessaloniki.

The Premiere section, which gives galleries the chance to exhibit cutting-edge works made in the past five years by up to three “exceptional” artists, will welcome seventeen galleries, up from ten last year. Three of these—Madrid’s Ehrhardt Flórez, New York’s Magenta Plains, and Istanbul’s Öktem Ayku—are showing at Art Basel for the first time.

The Feature section, which centers presentations of twentieth-century art, will encompass sixteen galleries, five of which are joining the show for the first time. These are Galerie Cécile Fakhoury, which has outposts in Abidjan, Dakar, and Paris; Madrid’s Galería Guillermo de Osma; Paris’s Galerie Kaléidoscope; Milan’s ML Fine Art; and Tokyo’s Kotaro Nukaga.

Devoted to emerging artists, the Statements section will offer eighteen solo presentations and welcome nine new participants. Among those debuting are the Warsaw- and New York–based Wschód, which will present a new site-specific work by Adam Shiu-Yang Shaw, examining Berlin’s waste infrastructures, and Zurich’s Blue Velvet, showing a new sculptural installation by Mónica Mays that investigates the Western genre as a transnational fiction of conquest.

The Editions sector will host seven galleries offering prints and editioned works, among them New York’s Gemini G.E.L., returning after a hiatus.

The site-specific Parcours section, stretching along Basel’s Clarastrasse, will be organized for the third year in a row by Stefanie Hessler, director of the Swiss Institute, New York, and will take as its theme the concept of conviviality. Curator Ruba Katrib, of New York’s MoMA PS1, will organize the Unlimited sector, which showcases large-scale installations and performances.
