Frieze Announces Participants in 2024 New York Edition

Frieze officials have revealed the sixty-eight galleries that will be participating in the company’s 2024 iteration of its New York fair, one fewer than last year. The event is scheduled to take place May 2–5, with a preview day on May 1, at the Shed, in the city’s Hudson Yards, and will be the first edition of Frieze New York to take place since the art-fair producer purchased the Armory Show last summer. This year’s participants hail from twenty-five countries.

Among the international exhibitors are Fortes D’Aloia & Gabriel, Xavier Hufkens, Gallery Hyundai, Kurimanzutto, Massimodecarlo, Silverlens, Sprüth Magers, Stevenson, and Victoria Miro. Roughly half of the participants are based in New York. These include smaller operations, such as 303 Gallery, Miguel Abreu Gallery, Canada, Chapter NY, James Cohan, Casey Kaplan, Anton Kern, Andrew Kreps Gallery, and Ortuzar Projects, and larger concerns operating outposts in various corners of the world. Falling into the latter category are Tanya Bonakdar Gallery, Gagosian, Gladstone Gallery, Alexander Gray Associates, Hauser & Wirth, Karma, Matthew Marks Gallery, Pace Gallery, and David Zwirner.RelatedRUSSIA TO SIT OUT SIXTIETH VENICE BIENNALEITALIAN CULTURE MINISTER VITTORIO SGARBI EXITS UNDER PRESSURE The Focus section, which is reserved for younger galleries that have been open for fewer than twelve years, will be organized by Lumi Tan, curatorial director for the Luna Luna art theme park in Los Angeles.

Among the eleven exhibitors appearing in the section and presenting work by emerging or underappreciated artists are Lisbon’s Madragoa, Chicago’s Patron, and Kapp Kapp, which is based in Philadelphia and New York. “In a city home to an array of outstanding art institutions, galleries and artists, Frieze is pleased to bring together, in a single venue, a host of exhibitors who together represent the finest in contemporary art,” said Frieze Americas director Christine Messineo in a statement. “New York will combine a global perspective with a showcase of the city’s exceptional galleries while recognizing nonprofit organizations that enrich the diverse arts communities of New York.” A complete list of exhibitors is below.
