Asia Art Archive(AAA) has named Istanbul-born curatorÖzge Ersoyas its next executive director. Ersoy, who joined the Hong Kong-based research and cultural organization in 2017 as public programs chief before rising to become senior curator there, will assume her new role in September. She succeeds artist Christopher K. Ho, wholed the nonprofit for four yearsand will remain on its board.
“At AAA, people and values are paramount, and no one embodies these ideals more fully than Özge Ersoy,” said Ho in a statement. “Her unwavering integrity, deep empathy, and steadfast commitment to collaboration will propel Asia Art Archive into a new era. I cannot imagine a better successor.”
Ersoy, who holds an MA in curatorial studies from the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College, gained extensive international experience working with art centers, biennials, and grant-making foundations before coming to AAA. Among the exhibitions she has co-curated since joining the organization are “In Our Own Backyard” (2025) and “Countering Time” (2024) at the archive’s library, whose renovation and expansion Ho recently oversaw.
“I am honored and excited to build upon the visionary leadership of Claire Hsu and Christopher K. Ho, alongside our board of directors, as well as the achievements of our team over the past twenty-five years,” said Ersoy in a statement. “With our renovated library and new digitization lab, we are more committed than ever to amplifying underrepresented voices, making archives accessible, and nurturing connections with artistic sensibility.”
Founded in 2000 and the steward of more than 140,000 records, Asia Art Archive is celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary this year. A yearlong program titled “Archive for All: Growing with Communities”—encompassing an exhibition, educational initiatives, and a publication centering Hong Kong art history—is planned.
