On the reverse, an owner's inscription with the title and date, executed in pencil. From the autumn of 1916, Sergei Gorodetsky (1884-1967) lived in the Caucasus. Initially, he was on the Caucasian Front of the First World War as a representative of the Union of Cities and a war correspondent. He then lived in Tiflis. Under Soviet rule, he moved to Baku. While in Baku, Gorodetsky headed the art department of ROSTA, and later worked in the Political Directorate of the Caspian Fleet. During this time, he created several posters and sketches for them.
