(1878 Łódź – 1960 Planegg, near Munich) "Late Summer." Original title: "View of a Sunlit Landscape with Trees and a Small Herd of Cows by a Floodplain, Probably Inspired by Heinrich von Zügel." This is a typical work for the artist, representing late Impressionism both in motif and style. Pippel studied in Karlsruhe and Dresden under Gotthardt Kuehl, who introduced him to Impressionism. From 1909, the artist mainly worked in Planegg, near Munich, and in 1911 he debuted at the exhibition in the Munich Glaspalast, where he regularly and extensively exhibited his works. In the same year, he became a member of the art association "Luitpold-Gruppe." Characteristic of his style are shimmering light effects and dense paint application using palette knife technique or free brushstrokes. Oil on canvas; signed; on the reverse, two original studio labels (with the Planegg location) with the title, made by the artist himself. 80 x 70 cm. In a frame.
