Kurt Scheele

Description

(1905 Frankfurt – 1944 Smolensk) "Couple in Green". An original rare ornamental figurative sheet by Schele, considered one of the artists of the lost generation. He studied from 1922 at the Frankfurt and Offenbach Schools of Applied Arts under Albert Windisch and Rudolf Koch, then moved to the Frankfurt Städel School in 1924 to study French painting, a representative of Expressionism. In 1927, he moved to Berlin, where he achieved his first successes at exhibitions and discovered abstraction in the 1930s. However, in 1937, some of Schele's works were declared "degenerate," and in 1939, a general exhibition ban was imposed on him. Many of his works were destroyed in 1943 along with his studio due to the consequences of war. Sepia ink drawing on paper. Signed and dated (19)39 and titled in the middle.
