Original title An impressionistically depicted evening landscape of the Baltic coast near the resort town of Rauschen (now Svetlogorsk) in East Prussia. Hemmpfing, a graduate of the Karlsruhe Academy, is one of the most significant southern German plein air painters of his generation. He exhibited his paintings from 1911 to 1914, notably at the Glaspalast in Munich, the Künstlerhaus in Vienna, and the Great Berlin Art Exhibition. Oil on hardboard. Signed lower left; titled on the reverse. 80 cm × 100 cm. Framed. Oil on plywood. Signed. Titled on the reverse.
