(born 1941, Lichfield/Staffordshire/England) "Cloud Diptych." This large-scale work was created in 1988. Nyland is mainly known for his paintings depicting reflections in modern buildings. From 1992 to 2004, he was a member of the Royal Academy. His stylistic use of light and imagery, utilizing the spray gun technique developed at the Royal College of Art, has led to comparisons between Nyland and Georges Braque and Johannes Vermeer.
