Description

Silver. In the form of tongs. Skillfully crafted as an openwork lattice design with a pointed, conical blade adorned with carved decorative stripes, transitioning into a rounded handle. A corresponding flexible counter blade on top. Created by the renowned silversmith Viktor Savenkov, with an unknown maker’s mark and dated. Weight approximately 245 grams. Length 33 centimeters. See Goldberg, page 42, number 620, for comparison with a similar Russian silver serving knife from the late Biedermeier period. Standard 84 mark, assayer’s mark, and unknown maker’s mark. Date: Russia, Moscow, 1864.
