Description

Uzbek man eating pilaf. Realistically depicted figure of a man, bent over on a carpet and eating the traditional rice dish. Blue enamel mark of hammer and sickle, engraved mark IK. Height 15.8 cm. Leningrad State Porcelain Factory named after Lomonosov, model attributed to Boris Vorobyov, created by Ivan Kuznetsov in the late 1930s / early 1940s. The author of this impressive figure is considered to be Boris Vorobyov (1911–1990). He was a student of Alexander Matveev and Vasily Vatagin. Vorobyov worked at the State Porcelain Factory from 1936 to 1942. His sculptural work was featured in a retrospective exhibition at the Marble Palace in St. Petersburg from November 2015 to January 2016.
