

A rare antique circular plate from the late 19th century, produced in Russia at the I. E. Kuznetsov porcelain factory for the Persian market. The plate is bright scarlet, featuring a portrait of Naser al-Din Shah Qajar in the center and gilded decorative elements on the rim. The underside is marked with red ink enamel: the I. E. Kuznetsov factory on the Volkhov River. Naser al-Din Shah Qajar was the Shah of Qajar Iran from September 5, 1848, until May 1, 1896, when he was assassinated. He was the son of Mohammad Shah Qajar and Malek Jahan Khanum and is the third longest-reigning monarch in Iranian history, after Shapur II of the Sassanid dynasty and Tahmasp I of the Safavid dynasty.
