A striking interior porcelain figurine of a Cockatoo parrot was made at the Karl Ens factory, renowned for its animalistic figurines. Thanks to the elongated pedestal in the form of a branch, which contrasts with the painting of the bird, the figure of the parrot looks incredibly impressive. The multicolored painting, conveying the natural coloring of these magnificent tropical birds, impresses with its richness and depth of shades.
The play of colors emphasizes the excellent detailing of the bird’s plumage, creating the illusion of complete realism. The three-dimensional modeling of the feathers is complemented by multi-layered detailing. Thanks to this, each feather stands out and shimmers in the light, naturally forming the position of the bird’s body, the curve of its back and wings. The author of the figurine especially succeeded in depicting the parrot’s head with its characteristic powerful beak and gripping, strong claws. The parrot figurine is made almost life-size; it is full of life and dynamism, as if the bird is about to take off, spreading its powerful wings. Age: 1920s, mark: Karl Ens, size: height 28.5 cm, material: porcelain, condition: good preservation, professional restoration of the golden feather.
