The circus in the Soviet Union was the most fun in the world, and Soviet clowns were true stars. In Soviet arenas, clowns mocked negative human traits: theft, bribery, drunkenness, and depicted something funny from the everyday life of Soviet people, charging everyone with positivity and kindness.
These simple, yet incredibly colorful and funny characters inspired the sculptor, author of famous monumental works of Soviet culture, Sergey Orlov.
His statuettes from the Soviet-era series "Circus" masterfully express sharp humor and aesthetic appeal.
One of the works from the talented sculptor's "clowning" series is the DFZ statuette "Clown." The porcelain clown with an expressive, radiant face conveys the positive spirit of a bygone era. The figurine is made of hard porcelain, painted in a bright, juicy color palette with elements highlighted in gold. The "Clown" statuette from the USSR bears the stamp of the Dmitrov Porcelain Factory on its base.
Height is approximately 15.5 cm.
