  • Description: Kepping Johann Friedrich (Kopping Johann Fredrik) (d. 1783). Studied from 1734 in St. Petersburg under his father, master goldsmith Klaus Jakob Kepping. Apprentice in 1740, worked in his father's workshop. Master of the foreign guild in 1748. Worked extensively for the imperial court, one of the finest masters of the 18th century, had many apprentices. After his death, masters Bjerkman and Tenner fulfilled court orders originally placed with Kepping. The master's mark depicts the initials "JFK" in capital letters.
