    On the left is the emblem of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. It depicts a stylized ship on waves sailing towards a star in the form of a cross. Above the image is the Latin inscription 'ET LUX TENEBRIS LUCET' ('Light shines in the darkness'), below it the year of the university's foundation '1917' in Roman numerals 'MCMXVII'. On the right is the inscription '100 años' (100 years) in Spanish. Below, on the background of the waves, is the abbreviation of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru 'PUCP'.

    In the central part is the coat of arms of the Republic of Peru. It is a heraldic shield surrounded by a wreath of palm and laurel branches. In the left field of the shield is a vicuña facing right, in the right field is a cinchona tree, and below is a golden cornucopia. Below the coat of arms is the mintmark 'LIMA', and below that the inscription 'UN SOL' (1 Sol). Along the rim are inscriptions: on the left, top, and right 'BANCO CENTRAL DE RESERVA DEL PERÚ' (Central Reserve Bank of Peru), and at the bottom in one line are the weight, year, and fineness: '33,625g 2017 PLATA 0,925'.
