On the bow of the galley is an eagle's head, on the stern is a pennant, and on the mast with a sail is a flag. The flag bears the image of the double-headed heraldic eagle from the reign of Emperor Alexander II. The pedestal on which the griffins stand is ornate and complemented by the ribbon of the Order of Lenin. At the top of the shield is the image of the large imperial crown. Along the arc of the upper edge, from left to right, on the ring made of steel with a brass galvanic coating, is the inscription "Russian Federation". Along the arc of the lower edge, from left to right, is the inscription: "Kostroma Oblast". The inscriptions are separated from each other by raised dots.
