The central part depicts the State Emblem of the Russian Empire – a double-headed eagle with wings spread and lowered. Above the eagle's heads is the imperial crown. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow – a shield with St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). The eagle holds thunderbolts and a torch in its right talon and a laurel wreath in its left, intertwined with the ribbon of the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle the First-Called. Below the ribbon are the letters: 'F' on the left, 'Kh' on the right. These are the initials of Mintmaster Fyodor Khvoshchinsky. Below the initials is the year of mintage '1830.'
