Reverse

In the central part of the reverse is a relief image of the Mausoleum-Mosque of Ahmed Yasawi. At the top along the rim is the text: MAUSOLEUM-MOSQUE OF AHMED YASAWI. Below is the date 'XIV c.' framed by an ornament. At the bottom is an ornamental element and the text: TURKESTAN.

Obverse

In the central part of the disc is a two-line inscription: '5 RUBLES', with laurel and oak branches to the left and right of it. Below the word 'RUBLES', in the center of a broken line, is the manufacturer's (mint) mark, and below that is the date '1992'. Along the rim are inscriptions framed by a circle of dots and separated by an ornament: at the top - 'KAZAKSTAN' (the name of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Kazakh), at the bottom - 'BANK OF RUSSIA'.
