    Along the arc of the left and upper edge of the coin are the words 'GAMES OF THE XXII OLYMPIAD', on the right the word 'MOSCOW' and the year of the XXII Olympiad '1980' separated by a dot, in the center the emblem of the XXII Olympic Games and behind it an allegory of sport and peace in the form of a globe and a laurel branch lying in front of it, below on the right the mint mark 'MMD', at the bottom near the rim the year of coinage '1977'.

    In the upper part of the coin is the State Emblem of the USSR, encircled by a ribbon (15 turns). The abbreviation 'USSR' is split into two parts—'SS' is to the left of the emblem, and 'SR' to the right. Below is a double line, under it the denomination of the coin, the numeral '100' and below it the word 'RUBLES'.
