The central part features a two-line inscription: КОПѢЙКИСЕРЕБРОМЪ. Above the inscription is the denomination designation—the numeral 2, flanked on both sides by floral rosettes. Below the inscription is a decorative divider consisting of two ornamental lines with a small rectangular diamond between them. Below the divider is the coin's year of minting, 1840. Further below is the mint mark—the letters S.P. The rim is decorated with dots. - Obverse
The center is occupied by the monogram of Emperor Nicholas I, crowned with an imperial crown. The rim is decorated with large dots.
