The denomination is indicated on two lines (with stars on the left and right) and the monetary unit: ⋆ 1/2 ⋆ KOPEYKI Below, there is a decorative divider in the form of two curved lines with a small circle between them. Obverse
The upper part of the obverse features the Imperial Crown with flowing ribbon ends below. The center is occupied by the monogram of Alexander III. Below the monogram is a cross of laurel (left side) and oak (right side) branches.
