    The central part features the monogram of Catherine II. Above the monogram is the Imperial crown. On both sides of the monogram are the digits of the coin's year of issue: '17' on the left and the second part '96' on the right. In the left part of the coin, along the rim, runs a laurel branch, and in the right part, a palm branch. At the base, the branches are tied with a ribbon, the knot of which forms a bow. The coin's border is made in the form of denticles.

    The central part of the obverse features St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is on the right). Beneath the horse are the letters 'E' and 'M'. Along the lower edge is a curved ribbon with the designation of the monetary unit: KOPEIKA
