In the central part, there is an inscription—the word 'КОПЕЕКЪ' (KOPEEKS). Above the inscription—the numeral '5.'. Below the inscription—a decorative line, and under it—the year of mintage '1802.'. Closer to the edge, at equal distances from each other, five dots (indicating the coin's denomination) are struck, each encircled by two rings. The dots are placed on a rim of five lines running along the edge. The border is decorated with denticles.
Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by the lesser coat of arms of the Russian Empire—a double-headed eagle with wings spread. The eagle's heads bear crowns, and a third, larger crown is above and between the heads. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow—a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). Around the shield is the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. In the right talon is a scepter, and below it the letter 'K'. In the left talon is an orb, and below it the letter 'M'. Together, the letters indicate the Suzun Mint. One above the crown, two on the sides of the eagle, and also to the left and right of the mint mark, on a rim of five lines, are five massive raised dots (indicating the coin's denomination). Each dot is encircled by one ring. The border is decorated with denticles pointing towards the center.
