  • Reverse
    In the central part, five shields with coats of arms are arranged in the form of a cross. The central shield features the Coat of Arms of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle with scepter and orb. The top shield is the Moscow coat of arms, the bottom one is the coat of arms of the Siberian Tsardom. The left shield is the coat of arms of the Astrakhan Tsardom, the right one is the Kazan Tsardom. The top shield is crowned with an imperial crown, the other three shields are crowned with tsarist crowns. Between the circular coats of arms are four small roses, above them the digits of the issue year: 1, '7', '9', '6'. Along the edge of the coin's reverse is the inscription: ♚ IMPERIAL ♛ RUSSIAN ♛ COIN•VALUE ♛ TEN•RUBLES The crown in the upper part of the reverse is imperial, the other three crowns are tsarist. The rim is decorated with denticles pointing towards the center.

    The center of the obverse features the right-facing profile of the Russian Empress Catherine II. In the lower part, below the portrait, is the abbreviation 'S P B' (Saint Petersburg Mint). Along the edge, in an arc from the lower left, runs the inscription: B•M•CATHERINE•II•EMP•AUTOCRAT•OF ALL RUSSIA• The rim consists of denticles.
