Reverse The central part features five shields arranged in a cross shape. The central shield depicts the Coat of Arms of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle with scepter and orb. The top shield is the Moscow coat of arms, the bottom one is the Siberian Kingdom coat of arms. The left shield is the Astrakhan Kingdom coat of arms, the right one is the Kazan Kingdom coat of arms. The top shield is crowned with an imperial crown, the other three shields are crowned with royal crowns. Between the circular coats of arms are four small roses, above them the digits of the year of issue: 1 '7', '8', 2. Along the edge of the coin's reverse is the inscription: ♚ IMPERIAL ♛ RUSSIAN ♛ COIN•VALUE ♛ TEN•RUBLES The crown at the top of the reverse is imperial, the other three crowns are royal. The rim is decorated with denticles pointing towards the center.
Obverse The center of the obverse features the right-facing profile of Russian Empress Catherine II. In the lower part, below the portrait, is the abbreviation 'S P B' (Saint Petersburg Mint). Along the edge in an arc from the lower left is the inscription: B•M•CATHERINE•II•IMP•AUTOCRAT•OF ALL RUSSIA• The rim consists of denticles.
