The upper part of the coin features the crown of the Russian Empire. Below the crown are a six-pointed star and the denomination — 'ДЕНЬГА' (Denga). Beneath this is a line, under which the abbreviation 'Е.М.' (Yekaterinburg Mint) is struck. On the left side near the edge is a laurel branch, and on the right, an oak branch. The branches are tied together at the base with a ribbon. Raised dots are struck along the coin's edge.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by the small coat of arms of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle with wings spread. The eagle's heads bear crowns, and a third, larger crown is above and between them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow — a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). Surrounding the shield is the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle. In its right talon the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. Under the right talon is the letter 'И' (I), under the left is 'К' (K). These are the initials of mintmaster Ivan Kolobov. Below the initials is the year of minting '1828'. The rim is decorated with dots.
