    The denomination (with quatrefoils to the left and right), monetary unit, and year of mintage are indicated on three lines: ✤ 5 ✤ KOPĒEKЪ 1852. Below is a divider of two ornamental lines with a dot between them. Immediately beneath it is the abbreviation 'V.M.' (Warsaw Mint).
  • Obverse
    The center of the obverse features a double-headed eagle—the coat of arms of the Russian Empire. Both eagle heads bear crowns, with a larger third crown between them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow—a shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). The shield is surrounded by the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle. The coats of arms on the wings: Left wing: Polish, Taurida, Finnish. Right wing: Kazan, Astrakhan, Siberian. In its right talon is a scepter, and in its left, an orb. The rim is decorated with denticles pointing inward.
