In the left part, a map of Europe is depicted. Above and below the map are six vertical lines, each ending in a five-pointed star. In the right part is the numeral 50, below it the inscription in Latin letters 'EURO CENT'. To the right are the initials of the designer Luc Luycx in Latin letters 'LL'.
Obverse
In the center, within a raised circle, is depicted the facade of the Vienna Secession building. Along the inner circle are inscriptions: on the right the numeral '50', at the top the currency name in Latin letters 'EURO CENT', on the right the mint year '2003', below it a stylized flag of Austria. Around the outer circle along the rim are twelve five-pointed stars.
