  • Reverse
The center of the reverse is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire—a double-headed eagle, both heads of which bear crowns. A third, larger crown is positioned above and between them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow—an oval shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). A chain bearing the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called encircles the shield. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. Above the eagle is the mint year '•1766•'. Around the circumference, along the rim, is the text: MON•TSENA•DVA•RUBLI. The edge is decorated with denticles.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse features the right-facing profile of the Russian Empress Catherine II. Along the edge, in an arc from the lower left, is the inscription: B•M•YEKATERINA•II•IMP•ISAMOD•VSEROS. Below is the abbreviation 'S P B' (Saint Petersburg Mint). The rim consists of denticles.
