In the central part, five shields with coats of arms are arranged in the form of a cross. The central shield features the Coat of Arms of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle with scepter and orb. The top shield is the Moscow coat of arms, the bottom one is the coat of arms of the Siberian Tsardom. The left shield is the coat of arms of the Astrakhan Tsardom, the right one is the Kazan Tsardom. The top shield is crowned with an imperial crown, the three other shields are crowned with tsarist crowns. Between the circular coats of arms are four small roses, above them the digits of the year of issue: 1 '7', 5 '6'. Around the edge, along the rim, the inscription: IМПРСКАЯ 'РОССÏИС' 'МОН•ЦЕНА' 'ПЯТЬ•РУБ', divided into four parts by crowns.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by the right-facing profile of Russian Empress Elizabeth I Petrovna. From left to right along the edge in an arc runs the inscription: Б•М•ЕЛИСАВЕТЪ•I•IМП•IСАМОД•ВСЕРОС. Below the portrait are the letters 'С•П•Б' (Saint Petersburg Mint).
