In the central part of the reverse are relief images of three ships under attack by a bomber; below, from left to right, are the flags of the USA, Great Britain, and the Soviet Union. Along the bottom circumference is the text: NORTHERN CONVOY, with the dates '1941·1945' on the right.
Obverse
At the top left is a small image of a double-headed eagle, with the word 'BANK' on the left and 'RUSSIA' on the right. Below is the denomination of the coin—the numeral '3' above the word 'rubles', and below that the minting year '1992'. In the center are St. Basil's Cathedral (the Cathedral of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos) and behind it the Spasskaya Tower of the Moscow Kremlin. Slightly below and to the right is the manufacturer's (mint) mark 'LMD'.
