In the central part, five shields with coats of arms are arranged in the form of a cross. The central shield is the Coat of Arms of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle with a scepter and orb. The top shield is the Moscow coat of arms, the bottom is the coat of arms of the Siberian Tsardom. The left shield is the coat of arms of the Astrakhan Tsardom, the right is the Kazan Tsardom. The top shield is crowned with an imperial crown, the other three shields are crowned with tsarist crowns. Between the circular coats of arms are four small roses, above them the digits of the issue year: 1 '7', 5 '6'. Around the circumference, along the rim, the text: IМПРСКАЯ 'РОССÏИС' 'МОН•ЦЕНА' 'ПЯТЬ•РУБ', divided into four parts by crowns.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse features the right-facing profile of Russian Empress Elizabeth I Petrovna. From left to right along an arc near the edge runs the inscription: Б•М•ЕЛИСАВЕТЪ•I•IМП•IСАМОД•ВСЕРОС
