The top shield is the Moscow coat of arms, the bottom one is the coat of arms of the Siberian Tsardom. The left shield is the coat of arms of the Astrakhan Tsardom, the right one is the Kazan Tsardom. The top shield is crowned with an imperial crown, the other three shields are crowned with tsarist crowns. Between the circular coats of arms are four small roses, above them the digits of the year of issue: 1 '7', '9', 1. Along the edge of the coin is the inscription: ♚ IMPERIAL ♛ RUSSÏAN ♛ COIN•VALUE ♛ FIVE•RUB. The crown at the top of the reverse is imperial, the other three crowns are tsarist. The rim is decorated with raised denticles.
