  • Reverse
The center of the reverse is occupied by the coat of arms of the Russian Empire—a double-headed eagle, both heads of which bear crowns. A third, larger crown is placed above and between them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow—an oval shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). A chain bearing the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called encircles the shield. In its right talon, the eagle holds a scepter, and in its left, an orb. Above the eagle is the mint year '•1796•'. Around the circumference, along the rim, the inscription reads: IСАМОДЕРЖ•ВСЕРОСИСКАЯ. The edge is decorated with denticles.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by the right-facing profile of Empress Catherine II. Around the portrait, the inscription reads: Б•М•ЕКАТЕРИНА•II•IМПЕРАТРИЦА•. On the sleeve's edge are the letters 'T.I' (engraver Timofei Ivanov). In the lower part, beneath the portrait, is the abbreviation 'С П Б' (Saint Petersburg Mint). The edge is decorated with short denticles.
