The central shield features the Coat of Arms of the Russian Empire — a double-headed eagle with scepter and orb. The top shield is the Moscow coat of arms, the bottom is the coat of arms of the Siberian Tsardom. The left shield is the coat of arms of the Astrakhan Tsardom, the right is the Kazan Tsardom. The top shield is crowned with an imperial crown, the other three shields are crowned with tsarist crowns. Between the circular coats of arms are four small roses, above them the digits of the year of issue: 1 '7', 5 '8'. Around the edge, along the rim, the text: IМРСКАЯ 'RUSSÏIS' 'MON•TSENA' 'PYAT•RUB', divided into four parts by crowns.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by the right-facing profile of Russian Empress Elizabeth I Petrovna. From left to right along the arc near the edge runs the inscription: B•M•ELISAVET•I•IMP•ISAMOD•VSEROS. In the lower part, below the portrait, is the abbreviation 'S P B' (Saint Petersburg Mint).
