The central part features the denomination: 2 Below it is the name of the monetary unit: "KOPEYKI". Below the name are two pointed lines directed in opposite directions with a dot between them. Under the lines is the abbreviation "E.M." (Yekaterinburg Mint).
Obverse
The central part depicts the State Emblem of the Russian Empire - a double-headed eagle with wings spread and lowered. Above the eagle's heads is the imperial crown. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow - a shield with St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is on the right). The eagle holds thunderbolts and a torch in its right talon and a laurel wreath in its left, intertwined with the ribbon of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. Under the ribbon are the letters: "N" on the left, "A" on the right. These are the initials of Mintmaster Nikolai Alekseev. Below the initials is the year of minting "1837."
