Offset to the left and upwards, the central element of the coin is the denomination: 1 RUBLE. In the left and lower-right parts of the coin are scrolls of a flowering plant. - Obverse
At the top along the rim (edge) is the inscription 'ODIN RUBL' (ONE RUBLE). In the center of the coin is a double-headed eagle and below it, arranged in a semicircle, the words 'BANK ROSSII' (BANK OF RUSSIA). Under the eagle's left foot is the mint mark 'MMD'. At the bottom near the edge is the year of mintage '2002'; above the year are two pointed, oppositely directed lines with a dot between them.
