  • Reverse
The central part features the monogram of Catherine II. Above the monogram is the imperial crown. On both sides of the monogram are the digits of the coin's year of issue: on the left — '17', on the right — '77' (year 1777). In the left part of the coin, along the edge near the rim, runs a laurel branch, and in the right part, a palm branch. At the base, the branches are tied together with a ribbon, the knot of which forms a bow.
  • Obverse
The center of the obverse is occupied by a double-headed eagle — the coat of arms of the Russian Empire. Both heads of the eagle bear crowns, and a third, larger crown is placed between them. On the eagle's breast is the coat of arms of Moscow — an ornate shield depicting St. George the Victorious on horseback, slaying a serpent with a long spear (the serpent's head is to the right). Around the shield is the chain of the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. In the eagle's right talon is a scepter, and below the talon the letter 'E'. In the left talon is an orb, and below the talon the letter 'M'. Together the letters indicate the Yekaterinburg Mint. Below the eagle, on a curved ribbon, is the inscription: FIVE • KOPEKS. The edge is decorated with denticles.
