    In the central part of the reverse is a relief image of the Institute of Ancient Manuscripts in Yerevan. Below it, an ancient manuscript in the form of a scroll and the inscription 'YEREVAN'. Below the inscription is the date '1959'. Under the date is an image of a bird with a sword and shield. In the upper part, along the outer rim of the coin, the inscription 'MATENADARAN' is placed in a semicircle.
