In the central part, the denomination is indicated in large figures — the number '100'. Below the denomination is the word 'RUBLEI' (RUBLES). Below the word are the letters 'MMD', the mint mark of the Moscow Mint. The central part is enclosed in a ring consisting of a linear rim and two intertwined floral patterns. Behind the ring, on the outer side, around the circumference along the edge is text: at the top — 'ROSSIYSKAYA FEDERATSIYA' (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), at the bottom the year of minting — '1993'.
Obverse
In the upper right part: an image of a polar bear, along the edge in a semicircle the inscription 'SHPITSBERGEN' (SPITSBERGEN) and an image of the North Star. In the lower left part, a map of the Spitsbergen archipelago is depicted with an indication of its location (78° north latitude), along the edge in a semicircle the inscription 'ARKTIKUGOL'. The two parts are separated from each other by a wavy line.
